Little is known about the natural Glaucous Macaw population. The IUCN Red List indicates there are less than 50 Glaucous Macaws in the wild, but no sightings since the 1960s.
As with the Glaucous Macaw, the New Caledonian Lorikeet's status is uncertain. The New Caledonian Lorikeet has been missing since 1976 despite several searches.
Another parrot whose wild condition is uncertain is the Red-throated Lorikeet. Due to limited occurrences, the IUCN Red List deems the Red-throated Lorikeet highly endangered but not extinct.
